Business Analyst

Develop technology project proposals; conduct research; conduct requirements gathering, analysis and documentation; and other business services and activities as assigned

The Business Analyst will be responsible for developing technology project proposals and researching high level alternatives and solutions used by other similar enterprises.  Likely projects include project cost management system, social media management system, parking reservation system, smartphone application, etc. They will work on their own but with guidance from the Project Management Office and following documented processes. 
The candidate must demonstrate the following through experience on similar projects:
  • Research business opportunity for technology through interviews and research with business and technology subject matter experts
  • Formulate and define technical scope and objectives of project based on both user needs and a thorough understanding of business systems and industry requirements
  • Gather and document user, functional and non-functional requirements and prepare functional, system and program specifications using appropriate methodology and tools
  • Conduct business process modeling work, including documenting of “as is” and “to be” processes using Microsoft Visio, process maps, etc.
  • Work with business and technical staff to research the business and technical scope and objectives of a project
  • Prepare project reports for management, partners, or others
  • Communicate and translate technical aspects, processes and requirements between Program team members and business partners
  • Work with Program and Project Managers to plan, track, coordinate and provide status on Business Analysis activities to support the Program
Successful candidates must be politically savvy, have strong technical writing skills and will be able to clearly and concisely communicate their skills and experience.  Candidates must be comfortable working on their own with business partners, technical resources, and vendors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  A bachelor's degree in technology, business management, or related discipline, or equivalent related business analyst experience.  Minimum 5 years of experience working on technology projects.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  8 years of experience working on business process and supporting system development projects
