Network Administrator

Operations (60%) 
  • Leveraging expert-level training and experience, acting as the highest point of technical issue escalation , the Systems Administrator will analyze and resolve issues with complex systems consisting of servers, workstations, and mobile devices. 
  • Represent IT department  unit to manage the client needs and responsibilities of analyzing, testing, documenting, and troubleshooting a large and complex network spanning multiple IP subnets and physical locations. 
  • Design, deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot servers to ensure the high-availability of TIER’s core services. 
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation of core IT servers and services. 
  • Research, recommend, and implement information management process and procedure best practices to ensure that all client data is protected through appropriate security, redundancy, and backups. 
  • Investigate, design, and create remote access services to enable remote workers. 
  • Analyze and revise client's IT systems to ensure they are compliant and consistent with regulations from HIPAA, FERPA, the client's Subject Review Board, and the client's Administrative Policy. 
  • Work closely with TIER’s Web Application Developer to provide a robust and reliable platform to support the client's Web Applications and Web Presence. 
Ongoing Service Improvements (30%) 
  • Consult with departments and functional units, analyze their unique business requirements, and design and deploy sustainable infrastructure strategies. 
  • Consults with users and other IT staff to determine, update, and document computer workstation standards. Work with the helpdesk to deploy and maintain those standards. 
  • Consult with TIER Learning Technologies to design, deploy, and maintain services and service improvements in support of their mission. 
Other duties (10%) 
  • Perform other duties as required to support the ongoing mission and strategic plans of the client. 

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. 
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education may substitute for the degreerequirement. 
  • At least 3-4 years of increasing responsibilities while delivering information technology services in a complex environment, to include: at least 2 years’ experience delivering highly available services using Windows Active Directory. 

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Ability to work independently 
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with critical deadlines 
  • Experience working in academic and/or health care IT positions 
  • Experience with IT security and HIPAA and FERPA compliance 
  • Expertise with the following: 
    •  o TCP/IP networks including subnetting, DHCP, WINS, DNS and Firewalls 
    •  o Windows PowerShell 
    •  o Federated Authentication technologies such as Shibboleth, SAML, ADFS or LDAP 
    •  o Microsoft SQL Server 
    •  o Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) as an application platform 
    •  o Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) on Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) 
    •  o Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 
    •  o Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) 
    •  o Content Management Systems (CMS) such as Drupal and Word Press 
    •  o Learning Management Systems such as Moodle and Canvas 

Conditions of Employment:
  • - Typically a 40 hour per week position, 5 days per week in a standard office environment. 
  • - To effectively perform the duties associated with this position, schedule flexibility and extra hours (including evenings and weekends) may often be required. 
  • - Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
