Payroll Analyst
The payroll specialist works under general supervision of the payroll supervisor, is responsible for accurate and timely processing of semi-monthly payroll in accordance to the applicable regulations, policies and union contracts. Tasks include uploading data into tracking system, verifying accuracy of information, performing payment calculations, and assisting with the reconciliation of transactions. Work involves constant reviewing and auditing of information during the processing to minimize and prevent errors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Transfers data from timesheet system into client'’s financial system; includes auditing of each entry to ensure adherence to established pay policies and standards according to applicable contract languages, city ordinance, personnel manual, and State or Federal regulations.
  • Computes salary, overtime, employee deductions, termination, and other special payments, for example, promotion, out of class, merit increase or allowances; includes verifying and reviewing source documents and coordinating with departments to ensure accuracy and adherence to procedure and policies.
  • Creates, maintains and updates employee records to ensure up-to-date benefit eligibility, salary, work shifts and W-4 information are in the system for processing. This may include manual monitoring, entering and auditing.
  • Prepares, reconciles, and remits files for direct depositions, deductions, benefits, wage garnishments, and payroll taxes.
  • Reviews payroll register for error and assists in auditing, adjusting, and documenting changes to pay transactions; may perform accounting reconciliation for single account type that follows established procedures and methods.
  • Assists in processing and distributing paychecks
  • Responds to inquiries regarding check payment, employee deductions, employment taxes, retirement benefits that usually includes interpretation of labor agreement, tax, State and Federal regulations.
 
Education and Experience
 
  • At least an Associate’s degree in accounting or related field and
  • Two (2) years payroll processing in a unionized work environment
  • Public sector experience preferred, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Experience with Tyler Technologies Eden Payroll System preferred.

    Location: Redmond
    Duration:  6-8 weeks (possible conversion to permanent for right candidate)
    Pay: $22 per hour
