Assistant Buyer

Location: Lynnwood, WA

Works closely with vendors, maintaining positive relationships while negotiating specs, pricing, and deadlines. Must be able to work independently and prioritize job duties, as well as prepare cost analyses and competitive strategies. They must be able to develop sales and profit margin plans, as well as maintain margin and determine turnover objectives.
Communication skills are a vital part of being an assistant buyer. They must communicate with departments, logistics, finance, operations, and vendors to provide information and problem solve.  Expected to communicate with all people involved in the buying process and deal with any problems that may arise. 

 

Assistant Buyer Tasks

  • Assist buyers and managers with writing purchase orders, buying merchandise, and managing inventory.
  • Research suppliers to determine which ones fit company pricing and quality objectives.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Three years of experience as a professional buyer 
     
  • AND either an Associate of Arts Degree in purchasing management or a Bachelor's Degree; OR equivalent combination of work experience and college level training.  
  • Strong MS Office skills (Intermediate to advanced MS Exel skills)
          
    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
DESIRED:
  • Experience with government clients a plus

Location: Lynnwood
Duration: 6 Months
Hours: 20 hours per week 30 once things get busier
Rate: $27.74
