Paralegal

Work is performed under limited supervision, following established guidelines and
specific instructions. The individual(s) in this position will assist the department’s
records management specialist/HR by reviewing personnel files and redacting client
case information located in personnel files.

Sample duties are:
 Review assigned employee personnel file
 Identify and flag document(s) that appear to contain client case information
(such as name, address, etc)
o Photocopy/scan identified document;
o Place original flagged document in a separate file
o Utilize photocopied/scanned document and redact client identified
information
o Place redacted document in the employee file
 Identify and flag documents that appear to contain medical information
o Place original document in a separate file
 Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS:
 Certification from a nationally accredited paralegal training institution and
three years related experience or any combination of
experience/education/training that provides the required knowledge, skills
and abilities to perform the work.
 Knowledge of the Guidelines for Criminal Defense adopted by the Washington
State Bar Association.
 Knowledge of the role of the attorney-client relationship and the requirement
to adhere to the Washington State Bar Association Rules of Professional
Responsibility.
 Skill in using office software programs including word processing,
spreadsheet, database and email.
 Knowledge of civil and criminal law and terminology, court rules and
procedures.
 Knowledge of legal research methods and practices.
 Knowledge of general office procedures, equipment and administration,
bookkeeping principles and banking procedures.
 Skill in communicating verbally, customer service and interpersonal skills.
 Ability to ensure work performed conforms with prevailing professional
standards and applicable statutes and county policy.

 Skill in interpreting complex legal documents, instruments, regulations, and
laws.
 Skill in working with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
 Ability to work both independently
 Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.


Location: Seattle
Duration: 6 weeks
Pay:  $29.09 per hour
